Hanover Winery opened their doors in 2009 as Butler County’s only winery. Owners Eddie and Elizabeth (Scheffel) McDonald decided to turn a 10 year passion into a business. An existing outbuilding that was used as a hobby shed was remodeled and transformed into the current wine tasting room. The large attached building is the wine producing area and was built with help from friends and family.
The demand for our wine grew beyond our initial expectations! We were able to purchase additional acreage to expand our vineyard and provide a large customer parking area for our guests. The expansion to the original manufacturing area was completed in 2016 along with the entrance drive to the parking area located on the backside of the winery with a short walkway to the winery tasting room and property. The new vineyard was planted in the spring of 2016 on the west end of the property. We hope to harvest our own Marquette, Norton and Seyval varietals for years to come!
The winery and vineyard has become a such a large part of our life. We love living and working on our farm, mixing business with pleasure allows us to spend quality time with our family and friends along with our vineyard pups.

Hanover Winery is a perfect setting to taking in the beautiful scenery where the open sky meets the country side with gorgeous sunsets over the vineyard.
We now offer a variety of local brews and cocktails to include everyone’s preference along with our food menu.
Events are held year-round and outside when possible. We offer weekends of live music along with special events such as our annual Summer Wine Festival in August. Due to the nature of our business, we are a 21 years + winery unless you are stopping in for an order to go or as noted otherwise on special event days.
Hanover Winery offers a large selection of wine. At this time, we currently have 25+ wines ranging from Dry to Dessert. Our goal is to produce a wide variety so that everyone will enjoy their experience. Be sure to check out our Wines page for the current wine selection.
We are located between Hamilton and Oxford, Ohio in rural Hanover Township. Experience good times with friends, watch beautiful sunsets and enjoy excellent wine! Whether you choose an evening of live music or just a quiet get away we, have something for everyone. And we like to say:
